2nd edition of the last album by Theodor Bastard, one of the most mysterious and mythical bands from Russia. The album name is a Latin transliteration of the Russian word for branches bearing in mind the branches of the World tree which supports the heavens, connecting the heavens, the terrestrial world, and the underworld. It's music combines elements of world music, neofolk, dark wave and trip hop. The hallmark of the album is female vocal by lead singer Yana Veva, her unique voice filled by glory and in the same time by meditative serenity and mild warmth. The musicians use classic instruments as well as electronic instruments and numerous ethnic instruments. Theodor Bastard release their albums not so often, working for months in various recording studios in several cities and countries, searching for the best sound and arrangements. The work on this album took three years with plenty of musicians taking part in it. Continuing the theme of wanderings, which was the basic idea of the previous album Oikoumene, Theodor Bastard take their listeners from hot south to the fairy northern lights. 'We travel to the North of Russia every year,' - says the band leader Fedor Svolotch. - 'Now it's time for us to turn to our culture, our country and our roots. There are our places of power, the places where stones and winds are talking to us. A new album is a song of the northern harsh nature'. A peculiar combination of the archaic percussions and folk instruments was used during the recording. Playing unusual ethnic instruments is still an important part of Theodor Bastard creative process. Russian horn, traditional Mongol violin morin khuur, ritual tibetian horn dunchen, ancient Russian gusli, cajon, jew's harp, dulcimer (string instrument like zither) - this is just a short list of musical miracles of the album. Many musicians were engaged in creating this sound kaleidoscope. That was a serious and laborious work. String instruments bring deep melodism and dramatism. There are morin khuur by Yana Veva, violin by Gulya Naumova and cello by Natalia Nazarova. They harmoniously strung on ritual rhythms of drums and percussions by Kirill Serov. Chamber choir Lauda adds ancient masculinity to the album sound, as well as an outstanding vocalist Alexander Platonov (Ensemble of Ancient Peasant Music). A magic sound of gusli by Olga Glazova, harp and cimbalom by multi-instrumentalist Philip Barsky decorate some songs, and great vocals by Buryat singer Namgar give a special atmosphere of northern dawn to one of the songs of the album.

YAT-KHA. WE WILL NEVER DIE - Lollipoppe Shoppe (Germany), 2021
The eighth studio album of the Tuvan band Yat-Kha, which focuses on the voice of the charismatic leader of the group Albert Kuvezin, is accompanied by his long-time friend and colleague Sholban Mongush. The album was recorded in Southern Germany, after the 2019 European tour, in the studio of krautrock legend Hans Joachim Irmler (Faust). In the spring of 2020, several additional tracks were recorded in Abakan (Khakassia). In addition to the usual songs, the album contains compositions collected from sayings and spells of Tuvan shamans, whose traditions form a continuous pedigree up to the Neolithic period. >>
CISFINITUM. MONOCHROME - Zhelezobeton / Aquarellist / KultFront, 2019
The album is dedicated to Dmitry Vasilyev, a musical educator, publisher, and ascetic. Initially, composer Evgeny Voronovsky conceived "Monochrome" as a futuristic mass of "high resolution" - an alchemical fusion of angelic chorales and dub-techno pulsations. The news of Vasilyev's tragic death caught the author of the recording rendering the final mix, redefining the meaning and purpose of the work that lasted for a whole year. "Monochrome" became a funeral service for a close friend, a man whose role for independent electronic music in Russia cannot be overestimated. >>
ALLERSEELEN. DUNKELGRAUE LIEDER - Aorta / Indiestate Distribution (Austria / Russia), 2017
The new album Allerseelen is a radically revised version of the album "Sturmlieder", originally released in 1996. Now Gerhard Hallstatt offers a new look at this classic work. The CD contains all tracks from the 1996 album in shortened remastered versions and 7 additional tracks. Some of the new tracks were inspired by the American black/folk/post-metal band Agalloch, Gerhard first met them in 2010 - it happened during the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull. >>
NOTCHNOI PROSPEKT. POLYURYTHANE - Frozen Light, 2017
The first studio album of the legendary band since 1993! Notchnoi Prospekt was founded in 1985 by Alexei Borisov and Ivan Sokolovsky. The group worked in various genres ranging from dance synthpop to industrial music, becoming one of the most innovative projects of the Soviet musical underground. The style of the album "Polyurythane" balances between new wave, industrial and art rock. Alexei Borisov, Dmitry Kutergin, Olga Nosova and other musicians took part in the recording. Sound designer - Evgeny Voronovsky (Cisfinitum). >>
OLE LUKKOYE. DYATLY - Trail Records (US), 2015
In April 2015, the St. Petersburg band Ole Lukkoye released a new album "Dyatly", published by the American label Trail Records. The album was recorded for two years at different Russian studios. After the material was recorded, the musicians came up with the idea to leave everything as it is and, as far as possible, avoid revision. As a result, only some vocal parts and percussion were recorded before the final mixing. The tracklist of the album consists of five tracks, and the transitions between them are made so smoothly that it seems as if you are listening to one endless song. >>
MACHINEFABRIEK. DUBBELTJES - Zoharum (Poland), 2014
Machinefabriek's music combines elements of drone ambient, glitch, field recordings, minimalism and post-classical avant-garde. This territory is successfully exploited by artists such as Fennesz, Tim Hecker, Oren Ambarchi and Stars Of The Lid. Unlike industrial music, Machinefabriek's improvisations are always very friendly, warm, and conducive to a leisurely exploration of a strange, surreal world. The new album is a compilation of 12 rare tracks released on low-volume 7-inch, cassettes and CD-R in the period from 2008 to 2013. >>
COLLOQUIO. L'ENTRATA - L'USCITA - Eibon Records (Italy), 2013
Gianni Pedretti, a resident of Bologna, organized Colloquio in the early 90s with the intention of exploring musical territories where advanced electronics intersect with the Italian song tradition. The new album continues to expand the sound horizons. In it, melancholic Italian ballads performed by Pedretti are successfully combined with cold minimalistic post-digital arrangements. Several guest musicians took part in the recording of the album, performing the parts of saxophone, flute, double bass and drums. >>
